ABOUT 400 people gathered in Quarry Bank’s Stevens Park last weekend to enjoy a fun filled teddy bears picnic.
The afternoon event was full of sunshine, fun, games, and music, which included a performance by the children of Thorns Primary School.
Younger visitors were given the chance to complete a quiz, where they had to answer questions about the park following a set trail, as well as winning a new cuddly toy in the free ‘name the teddy’ competition.
The Quarry Bank Friends of the Park group organised the event and said they were “really pleased” with the support, attendance numbers and the way the community had responded.
Mary Sparks, secretary of the group, said: “It was wonderful to see families enjoy the simple pleasure of a communal picnic.
“They appreciated the talents of some of the youngest members of our community, who came from the Thorns Primary School to entertain us with some very accomplished singing.
“The school’s performance was really excellent and the children and their teachers are to be congratulated for putting on such a polished performance.
“Although the picnic officially ended at 3pm, many visitors chose to remain in the park to continue to enjoy the friendly atmosphere created by families, neighbours, school mates and friends, all joining in a relaxed picnic with their teddies.”
