AN elderly Quarry Bank woman was left “shaken” after an intruder walked into her home and stole £20 while she was tucked up asleep at night.

The incident happened at around 8.45pm on Wednesday November 9 while the 80-year-old woman was in bed at her Park Road home.

The offender, who got into the house through an insecure downstairs window, is believed to have apologised to the woman during the raid before fleeing from the house.

Detective Constable Louise Davies said: "We know the offender searched both floors of the property.

“The terrible thing about this offence is that the 80-year-old victim was home alone at the time of the burglary, which has understandably left her shaken.

"The offender entered the bedroom where the victim was, noticed her in the room and apologised before fleeing the property."

The intruder is described as a white man, six feet two, of slim build, aged between 25 and 30 and he spoke with a Birmingham accent. He was wearing a black hooded top, black trousers and carrying a red torch.

Anyone with information is urged to ring Dudley CID by dialing 101 or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
