PENSNETT motorists are being advised of considerable delays as resurfacing work takes place along the High Street later this month.

The roadworks, which will include laying anti-skid and new road markings, will begin on Monday, March 18 and last for four weeks.

Work will start at the island near the visitor entrance to Russells Hall Hospital and finish just beyond Church Street.

In a bid to minimise disruption, the majority of work will be carried out in off-peak hours, between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

But diversions will not be put in place as continual emergency access is needed for the hospital, with traffic instead being controlled by workers using stop and go boards.

No parking will be permitted along any section of the affected route and any resident who experiences issues with vehicles blocking their driveways or access to their property, should contact Dudley Council Plus.

Councillor Judy Foster, cabinet member for transportation, said: “The council and its contractor are working very closely with Russells Hall Hospital and are committed to keeping disruption and delays to a minimum throughout these important resurfacing works.

“Letters will be going out to all properties within the vicinity of the works from next week and we thank those who will be affected in advance for their patience.”

The section of roadway by the ambulance A&E entrance will be carried out on Saturday, March 23 and Saturday, April 6.
