SEDGLEY people have been praised for their help in a police search which  ended in tragedy.

Officers began a major operation to comb through Sedgley Hall Park on May 30 after a car belonging to 26-year-old office worker Frankie Warren was found at the scene following an investigation using number plate recognition technology.

Miss Warren, from Thornbury in Gloucestershire, had been reported missing to Avon and Somerset police the previous day after she left for work but did not arrive, her family was concerned due to her state of mind at the time of her disappearance.

Members of the public joined the search in Sedgley and the body of a woman was found in the woods near Hickmerelands Lane at around 7pm on Friday (May 31).

A Facebook page set up to publicise the search for Miss Warren attracted thousands of viewers and is now publishing touching tributes.

Allie, Sarah, Holly and Leah said: "Frankie was more than a friend to us, she was our whole entire world and we will never let her memory fade! Our hearts have been broken and we will never truly get over the fact that she has left us.

"A special thank you to the wonderful people of Sedgley who never lost hope in finding our girl - we are eternally grateful!"

Chief Supt Stuart Johnson of West Midlands Police also thanked Sedgley people for their help in the search and officers confirmed they are not treating the death as suspicious.

A spokesperson for the Black Country coroner said: "We have been informed about the body of a young woman found in Sedgley and are currently determining whether the inquest will be held here or in Bristol."
