A WOMAN has been arrested after an incident in Sedgley which left a man fighting for his life.

Paramedics were called to Gospel End Road near Red Lane at 9.15pm last night (Wednesday July 17) after a man was reported to be lying in the road injured.

Offices from Staffordshire Police were also sent to the scene.

The injured man was initially taken by ambulance to Russells Hall hosptial but is now in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham where his condition is described as critical.

The woman, aged 57, has been arrested on suspicion of assault GBH with intent and remains in police custody. Police say the suspect and the victim are known to each other.
