A SEDGLEY vicar is in seventh heaven after completing a marathon trek to raise cash for refugees from war-torn Syria.

Revd Canon Stephen Buckley, from All Saints' Church, Vicar Street, overcame an ankle injury to complete a 150-mile, 18-day sponsored pilgrimage walk from Porto in Portugal to Santiago de Compostela in Spain.

During the walk Rev Buckley braved sweltering heat to reach the cathedral of St James in Santiago and finish the pilgrimage, known as the Camino.

His walk raised £2,000 for Embrace the Middle East, a charity working to help Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
