A DRUNK Black Country teenager who went looking for trouble in Sedgley attacked two young men in "shocking" violence.

Wolverhampton Crown Court was told Luke Shelly carried out the attack outside the Clifton Bar in Sedgley's Bull Ring.

He was jailed for nine months after being told the incident was "quite serious public disorder."

Recorder Tina Landale told Luke Shelley: "In drink you were pumped up and looking for trouble, your offending calls for a deterrent sentence because members of the public are frightened by such behaviour."

She described one assault carried out by the 19-year-old on a man who was punched and kicked as "vicious" adding: "You were caught red-handed on the CCTV footage."

The Recorder said Shelley had learned nothing from his previous court appearances and he had to go behind bars.

Shelley, of Mount Road, Lanesfield, Wolverhampton, admitted assault causing actual bodily harm and common assault on a second victim.

David Oscroft, prosecuting, said the two victims had been drinking with friends and Shelley was with a second group of young men.

He added words were exchanged, umbrage was taken, the aggression escalated and Shelley struck out at the one man.

Then, when a patrolling police car moved away from the scene, he assaulted the man again before joining in a group attack on the other victim.

Pat Currie, for Shelly, said his client maintained he had not kicked out during the incident which he accepted had resulted in unpleasant injuries for the two men who suffered cuts and bruising.

Mr Currie said: "He was heavily intoxicated and he does not remember too much about what happened, he accepts what he did was a complete over-reaction."

Mr Currie said Shelley, who had no previous convictions for violence, had found it extremely difficult to view the CCTV footage, adding: "What he did was out of character and he is full of remorse for his actions."
