Voluntary groups which provide support and social activities for adults in the community are being urged to apply for funding.

Groups across Dudley borough can apply for grants to support their work which is available through this year’s Small Grants Scheme.

The Dudley Council scheme is aimed particularly at groups that provide support and social activities and look to extend their services to include people with disabilities and older people.

The financial support will be made available to the groups in areas ranging from running costs, purchasing equipment and training expenses. Last year 87 organisations benefited from the small grants scheme. These grants ranged from £200 up to £1,234 and provided funding to support venue hire, equipment, running and travel costs.

Councillor Steve Waltho, cabinet member for adult and community services, said:

“These may be small grants but year on year they provide a big help to voluntary and community groups across the borough. We would urge groups to apply for funding to help support the excellent work they carry out in our community.”

The closing date is Friday March 29 2013 and all applications need to meet the criteria outlined in the application pack which can be obtained by ringing 01384 815755 or by visiting www.dudley.gov.uk. Support will be available to help completion of applications.
