Staff at Dudley Council have risen to the challenge of providing presents to under-privileged children, by collecting and donating a record number of gifts for the annual Operation Santa Toy Appeal.

Council staff gave 833 toys, games and other presents suitable for children.

The toy appeal is run by Dudley Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) in aid of children in the borough who may not receive a Christmas gift without this service.

Councillor Alan Finch, mayor of Dudley, said:

“There are more than 15,000 children in Dudley who live in households with income below the poverty line.  Operation Santa is a fantastic and sadly vital initiative, and I’d like to thank everyone who gave time, thought and money to help children who are less fortunate than themselves.”

Dudley CVS has already received more than 4,000 items for Operation Santa.
