The new Mayor of Dudley has pledged to boost two charities during his year in office.
Councillor Michael Evans was officially made Mayor of Dudley at last night’s full council meeting (May 19) where he announced his chosen charities for the forthcoming year.
The borough’s first citizen has chosen Leukaemia treatment at Russells Hall Hospital and The Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) Councillor Michael Evans, Mayor of Dudley, said: “I am hugely honoured and excited at representing the borough as Mayor of Dudley. I’m sure you will agree the charities I have chosen are very worthy causes, and I hope people will give what they can to these groups so they can continue their excellent work.”
Councillor Evans has been Deputy Mayor for the past 12 months and takes over from Councillor Peter Miller as the Mayor of the borough. Councillor Sue Greenaway is the Mayor’s consort.
Councillor Evans was previously cabinet member for housing.
Councillor Doreen Ameson is Deputy Mayor of the borough for the next 12 months.
