WEST Mercia Police is appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Worcester and taken to hospital with significant facial injuries.

The 30 year-old was walking on the Tything with four other men before the assault, which in Barbourne Road, outside Severn Laun-Dri at around 4am, on Tuesday, July 22.

Police confirmed he was assaulted by some of the men in the group he was seen walking with before-hand. He was taken to Worcester Royal Hospital for treatment.

The men ran off in the direction of Gheluvelt Park. One of them is described as white, tall with short blond hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt, dark blue jeans and black and white Nike trainers.

Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the assault. They wish to particularly trace a cyclist who was seen on CCTV riding down Barbourne Road around the time of the incident.
