A TEENAGER was seriously injured following a collision near Kidderminster last night.

The young man was injured after the car he was driving left the A456 at Blakedown and overturned at around 9.20pm.

West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) was called and a paramedic in a rapid response vehicle, a senior paramedic officer in a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance crew and the MERIT trauma team consisting of a trauma doctor and critical care practitioner attended.

A WMAS spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find the car upright in a field. Its driver, a man in his late teens, was trapped and was cut free.

“He had arm and leg fractures and a suspected abdominal injury. A traction device was used on his leg and an arm was splinted. Pain relief and fluids were administered and, accompanied by MERIT, he was taken to the major trauma centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.”
