EARLY years pupils at Kidderminster school took part in a sponsored bike ride to raise money for a charity ‘close to the schools heart’.

St. Oswalds Primary School’s nursery and reception classes took part in the bike ride to raise money for the Kidney Patient Association.

The school also held a coffee morning to support the charity, which raised £53.

The school chose the Kidney Patient Association as it is currently supporting one of the families within the school.

Sam Goodman, nursery manager at St Oswalds, said: “We can support a charity as best we can, but we thought it would be nice to raise money for a cause close to the schools heart.

“The event was very well supported by the parents and the children did us very proud.”

The children completed five laps on the schools back playground.

Local company, Spokes, also got involved and were present at the school to service bikes and to provide bikes for the children in the school who did not have a bike of their own.

Spokes aims to help young individuals with learning disabilities to be able to find and remain in employment in the future.

At the end of the event, the company also donated their bikes they had provided for the event to the school.

St Oswalds is still waiting for all pupils sponsor forms to be returned, before announcing the total raised for the Kidney Patient Association.
