A PRINTING firm’s bosses were quick to respond to a plea for a “Good Samaritan” to replace £300 worth of plants stolen from a public garden in Halesowen.

James Barwell and Simon Greenfield, who run print management and graphic design company Colour Cubed in the town, were appalled to read on the News website about the theft from Fingerpost Gardens.

The site in Rumbow had only recently been given a facelift by Dudley Council as part of Halesowen in Bloom’s bid for a gold medal in this year’s Britain in Bloom contest.

Mr Greenfield said: “We saw the article and thought what had happened was awful.

“As business people we would like to see Halesowen looking nice. The Halesowen in Bloom team are working so hard and then someone nicks the plants.”

Delighted Halesowen in Bloom chairman Eve O’Connor said their gesture restored her faith in human nature.

She added: “We are really grateful to this company for stepping in – and so quickly.

“We will not be blooming beaten and this is a really positive result.”

Colour Cubed is also planning to spruce up land at the back of its premises in Earls Way with planting and is to put up hanging baskets.

Anyone interested in sponsoring other displays, planters and hanging baskets in the town centre should contact Mrs O’Connor on 0121 585 5495.
