AN estate near Pershore is looking for people with a head for heights to volunteer in a room with a view.

National Trust-owned Croome Court is in need of volunteers to man the new Sky Cafe at the top of a 12metre high scaffold at the estate.

Visitors are able to climb to the top of the scaffolding to enjoy beautiful views of the mid-18th century estate while repair works are ongoing.

Emily Cottrell, Croome’s volunteer development manager, said: “Croome is such a unique property and is continually evolving. Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do and play a huge part in supporting our work, either chatting with our visitors or helping behind the scenes. We love the fact that as well as the more traditional roles, such as room guides, we can offer more unusual ones such as helping at the top of our scaffolding and viewing platform.”

The scaffolding, which was erected in 2014 and partly covered by a giant street art wrap, has become a big draw for visitors.

Volunteer assistance is needed in the ‘Hub’ at the base of the scaffolding to meet and greet visitors before they ascend the scaffolding staircase.

At the top of the scaffolding volunteers are needed to point out features in the parkland, such as the colourful bird sculptures and the panoramic views towards the Malvern Hills.

Anyone interested in volunteering can attend a taste session on Thursday.
