A dramatic rescue had to be undertaken in Bidford on Avon, to save a stranded swan which had fallen foul of fishing wire.
Upton upon Severn's Mercia Inshore Search and Rescue (MISAR) was called to the scene on the River Avon near the Bridge Pub on Friday, and came to the aid of the swan which had wire wrapped around its neck, body and legs.
It is believed the swan had been in that state for a number of days following unsuccessful attempts to save it, before MISAR saved the day.
The 5pm rescue at the village near Evesham was also memorable for another reason, as it was newly acquired rescue boat, named the Rescue Runner, which was used for the rescue.
The boat is specialised in operating in shallow waters, and MISAR is the first organisation in the UK to have one in its fleet.
The swan was uninjured by the wire.
