SEVERN Trent Water is holding a drop-in session today for residents to hear about their £220,000 investment in Kidderminster.

The project to put in 1.7 kilometres of new water pipes in Kinlet Road will be completed in two stages, the first one starting on Monday, June 22.

The drop-in session is taking place this evening (Tuesday, May 26) between 4pm and 7pm on the car park of Furnace Mill Fisheries.

Dave Kiernan, programme engineer, said: “We are sorry for any disruption caused by our work in the area; the water pipes have been serving the community for more than 70 years and have grown really old.

“So we can avoid major leaks and bursts which affect our customers, we need to put in new water pipes.

“We would like to thank local residents for their understanding while we carry out this work and we will be happy to answer any questions about the project at the drop-in session.”

The work to put in the new water pipes will start on Kingswood Road at the junction of Sturt Lane, with work continuing on Sturt Lane towards Kinlet Road for around five to eight weeks.

Work will then start on Kinlet Road from Wednesday, August 26, starting in-between Birches Farm and Quarry Cottages towards the junction of Station Road and Yew Tree Farm for around seven to eight weeks.

Mr Kiernan added: “Local residents know the area better than us and often suggestions about the work we are doing can help us improve the project and allow us to work with the community.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by our work; once the pipes are in place it will make sure we can continue to offer a reliable water service to our customers for many years to come.”
