POLICE had a busy weekend as they took 13 people into custody for a range of offences following disorder, assaults and drink driving in the city.

The 13 arrests took place across south Worcestershire on Friday. A drink driver was arrested say Worcester’s Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team while a car was seized for no insurance and no MOT.

Saturday night also proved to be busy with officers called by the ambulance service about a man unconscious behind the wheel.

A spokesperson for the Operations Patrol Unit in Worcestershire said “It turns out he was asleep and drunk and was arrested.”

Police are also seeking information after one of their police cars was vandalised on Saturday in Walnut Avenue, Worcester.

A spokesman for the South Worcestershire local policing area said: “A police vehicle was disabled by someone slashing a tyre.”

The spokesman said of Saturday night: “Worcester city has been very busy with large numbers out. Unfortunately there were a number of incidents of disorder and assault and a number of people arrested.”
