A well-known Worcester restaurant has suddenly closed its doors.

Bindles Bar and Brasserie in Sidbury has been shut without explanation for more than a week.

Towels have been left draped over beer pumps but there is no explanation on the door as to why the restaurant is shut.

The phone is not being answered and no information has been left on the answer phone.

Visitors to the restaurant's Facebook page have expressed their shock and surprise at the lack of information given.

On Friday, October 2, Sue Wright wrote: "We were at your door at 6.30pm tonight, looking forward to cocktails - where were you?

"The door was locked, and there was no sign to say what had happened!"

On the same day, Tally Ellis wrote: "We had a table booked for last night but got there and you were closed? Not even a phone call to let us know?"

Sophie Piercy posted on Tuesday, September 29 to say she had been trying to phone and book a table but could get no response.

The business's facebook page has not been updated since Sunday, September 20

The business is owned by Victoria Hamilton-Jones, but she did not respond to calls made to her by the Worcester News.

Fran Fosh, who owns Charlie's Cafe Bar next door to the restaurant, said: "The back door to the yard was open on Sunday but from Monday the door has been shut.

"Normally, if she is away or something, someone else runs it or there is a note on the door."

Records on Companies House show the business, which Miss Hamilton-Jones has owned since 2011, is still active but its annual return which was expected two weeks ago is overdue.

Last year, plans to extend Bindles with a 130sq m glass-fronted extension to the dining room as well as a 50sq m rooftop terrace were blocked.

However, a revised plan, which saw the size of the terrace scaled down to 12sq m and the extension reduced to 123sq m were given permission by Worcester City Council’s planning committee.
