POLICE want to speak to this man about a brawl on a Worcester train that saw rival football fans use belts as weapons.

The image was taken by a shocked passenger who witnessed the punch-up between about 10 men - not the 30 as originally reported to officers.

British Transport Police have released the image in a bid to track down the male, who was pictured in the carriage when the fight broke out on the 6.45pm train from Birmingham New Street to Worcester Foregate Street on Saturday, September 19.

The suspects – thought to be a mix of Aston Villa, Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Bromwich Albion supporters – are all described as white and in their mid-30s.

PC Ben Smith, of British Transport Police, said: “We’d like to thank the quick-thinking passenger who took the photograph. Now we need the public’s help to identify this man so we can speak to him about what happened.

“We know all the men got off at Worcester Foregate Street station and our CCTV enquiries into who else may have been a part of that group continue.

“I’d urge anyone who was involved to come forward as soon as possible and tell us their side of the story before our net closes in on them.”

Police previously described the incident as a "mindless act of thuggery".

Anyone with information should call British Transport Police on 0800 405040 or text 61016 quoting reference number GSUB/B5 of Monday, September 21.
