A SERIES of special events will take place at The Hive in Worcester to help residents get online.

The sessions - including workshops on accessing ebooks, using tablets and digital cameras and a Home Choice Plus surgery - will take place during national get online week from Monday, October 12, to Sunday, October 18.

This year is the ninth get online week and the campaign aims to reach tens of thousands of people and help them to get online for the first time or brush up their computer and internet skills.

In 2014 a massive 80,000 people were reached by the campaign and in Worcestershire the county council aims to use the week to focus on digital inclusion.

Councillor Lucy Hodgson, cabinet member with responsibility for localism and communities at Worcestershire County Council, said: "This is a fantastic way to allow more people to find their way around the internet safely, as well as promote our digital champions in the libraries who are key drivers of get online week and can provide valuable skills to those who need them.

"We are really hoping that anyone who isn't confident about using the internet will take advantage of the sessions that are running during get online week, especially as we know that thousands of people in Worcestershire aren't online and don't yet know how to access the internet."
