RESIDENTS of West Oxfordshire have responded quickly to a car parking survey launched by the district council.

Within the first few days, more than 1,000 forms had been submitted and remains open until February 29.

Interest in the initiative which covers West Oxfordshire District Council car parks across the district has been fuelled by debate on social media, particularly Facebook, while the majority of forms have been completed online.

Cllr David Harvey, Cabinet Member for Car Parking and Transport, said: “The response has been extraordinary and we are delighted so many people have engaged in what is clearly a vital issue.

“Views expressed in the survey will tell us how we can improve and develop our parking provision in the future so we can continue to meet the needs of residents, businesses and visitors effectively. Our policy of free parking will continue.”

Every car park managed by the District Council is included in the survey and it asks key information, such as how often each one is used, for how long and the purpose of the visit.

To match future parking provision, the council wants to hear from as wide a cross-section of the community as possible, including families and those with disabilities.

The survey can be completed online at www.westoxon.gov.uk/parkingsurvey or is available at the council's reception points.
