A KIND-hearted Stourport girl went to great lengths to help children who have lost their hair following cancer treatment.

Eight-year-old Amber Mound had her long hair cut off at a charity fundraising gala at West Midland Safari Park on Sunday evening (May 1) to raise money for the Little Princess Trust.

Amber’s mother, Debbie, said Amber was keen to something to help children with cancer feel special again and that she loves helping other people.

Amber had around eleven inches cut from her hair on Sunday, and so far the gala and charity haircut has raised £4,000.

Debbie added: “Amber was really brave and she was all smiles while getting her hair cut.

“Five plaits were put in first and then it was chopped and restyled.

“People were putting cash in champagne glasses for her. One generous man gave £100 – it was amazing.

"She's really glad she did it - she wants to grow her hair and do it again.

"She is really pleased to have helped someone. It's lovely that a child with cancer will get a wig because of it.

“We couldn’t be prouder of her.”

Amber also danced at the event as part of Zennor’s Dance and Musical Theatre Academy.

The gala on Sunday was a celebration of the golden age of Hollywood, with dancing, West End performances, a silent auction and live music.
