A LORRY carrying meat products has shed its load on the M5 northbound, causing severe delays back to Junction 6 for Worcester.

Two lanes are currently shut between Junction 5 for Droitwich and Junction 4a for the M42.

The Central Motorways Police Group (CMPG) tweeted to say a specialist clean up team are in attendance.

Meanwhile, Highways England has warned drivers to be aware of the severe delays if planning on travelling the area.

It has predicted the congestion to clear between 8pm and 8.15pm this evening (Wendesday).

Road users can still pass the scene, but are being advised to consider taking an alternative route this evening.

The incident took place just before Junction 4A where the motorway branches off with the M42.

We will bring you updates as we receive them.
