A MOTORCYCLIST caught drug driving was allowed to continue on his journey after being tested, a court heard.

Kirk Metcalfe, 32, of Standale Road in Hereford pleaded guilty to driving a motorbike on Southolme Road in Belmont on March 27 when he had 8mg of delta-9-THC (a compound of cannabis) in his system, which is four times the legal limit.

Hereford Magistrates Court heard he was stopped at 4.05pm by police after they saw him overtaking vehicles on Belmont Road.

Rob Macrory, mitigating, said the police stopped his client for overtaking vehicles but there was no charge of speeding or of driving without due care.

He said the officers must have felt he wasn't causing any particular danger and also let him continue his journey on his bike afterwards which they would not do if he was a drink driver.

Metcalfe was disqualified from driving for 18 months and fined £100 and ordered to pay prosecution costs of £100 and a victim surcharge of £20.
