A DUDLEY youngster has raised more than £100 for a charity close to her heart.

Naomi Johnson, aged four, completed the Great Midlands Fun Run last month for Coeliac UK.

The charity has become a "lifeline" for her family after the tot, who attends Netherton Park Nursery, was diagnosed with the illness six months ago.

Her proud mum Carly Round said: "This was a really difficult time for the whole family and heartbreaking for Naomi, who didn't really understand why she was no longer allowed her favourite foods.

"But now, Naomi has adapted to her gluten free lifestyle and we are so proud of the way she handles her daily hurdles."

Naomi, who completed the 8.5mile run with mum in tow in two hours, 31 minutes, said: "I wanted to raise money for all the gluten free people to help them get better like me and I'm really good at running."

Her mum added: "It's fair to say Naomi has found her passion. The immense feeling of pride as she crossed the finish line and received her medal was indescribable.

"Naomi has raised an amazing £115 - we are so proud of this achievement. She can't wait to take part in her next event."
