CHILDREN in Tenbury and the Teme Valley are being encouraged to take time out during the summer holidays to get their heads into books.

Tenbury Library is hoping to get as many children aged between four and 12 years to borrow and read six books before the end of September.

It is all part of a national initiative to get up to 750,000 children into libraries up and down the country over the summer holiday.

At the heart of the ‘Reading Challenge’ is the centenary of the great storyteller Roald Dahl.

Tenbury Library runs a number of programmes throughout the year to get children and young people interested in books and reading.

This includes a regular Saturday morning ‘Smarties Club’ for very young children.
