A WORLD champion dancer will be hot-stepping it to Honeybourne to open this year's village show.

Gloucestershire- based world Irish dancing champion Gemma Osmond will open the fun-packed community event, taking place at the sport and recreation field in Bretforton Road, Honeybourne from 1pm until 6pm on Sunday, September 4.

The show is organised by Honeybourne Village Hall Committee, which is raising funds to build a new community centre for the village on land donated by Taylor Wimpey at its Fair Acres development.

After a successful first show last year, the committee say this year's show is set to be bigger and better.

In addition to a produce and craft show, Honeybourne Village Show will feature stalls and sideshows, a classic car display, miniature steam traction and locomotive engines, the Wychavon Community Roadshow, children’s activities a tug-of-war contest, a beer tent supplied by the Fleece Inn and much more.

In honour of the star guest, and reflecting a long tradition of Irish dancing in the village, an Irish dancing performance will feature as part of the programme.

Miss Osmond has been dancing for 19 years with the McCarthy-Felton School of Irish dancing and has won two world titles along with the European, British and Irish championships along the way.

Richard Kendrick, village hall committee chairman, said: “The theme for the show is ?Celebrating our Community?.

"Honeybourne is growing and the village show is an opportunity for people to come together, show off their talents and have fun while raising funds for our new community centre.”

Entries for the produce and craft show are welcomed and schedules and entry forms can be downloaded from honeybourneshow.co.uk.
