A HEATWAVE engulfing Worcester is expected to cool off tomorrow (Wednesday), with the mercury forecast to drop to around 22C.

Today (Tuesday) temperatures peaked at a sizzling 29C, making Worcester hotter than Los Angeles, Gran Canaria and the Seychelles.

However temperatures will feel more comfortable tomorrow, hovering around the 20C mark for most of the day.

Along with the intense heat, the sunshine will also disappear and it will be a mostly cloudy day for city residents.

Met Office meteorologist, Emma Sharples, said: "As we head through this evening (Tuesday) and overnight the band of cloud in the north starts to spread its way further south and east.

"Parts of northern and central England, Wales - will be a lot cloudier, and as a result a bit cooler with temperatures in the low 20s (on Wednesday)."

Elsewhere in the UK, the mercury is set to hit 30C in London and across the South East.
