MOVIE icon Tom Cruise has been spotted in the Cotswolds.

Cruise, 54, spent two days in Bourton-on-the Water in June as part of a trip to England, whilst filming The Mummy.

Speculation is rife about what he was doing in the picturesque village, with many national papers claiming it is a result of him finding love with a British woman.

According to The Sun, the two have rented a cottage in the idyllic area and enjoyed romantic bike rides together there.

The Cotswold village has found itself all over the American media this week as writers speculated what Cruise was doing there Many American publications simply described it as 'near London'.

US Weekly reports that Cruise took the unnamed women to Bourton-on-the-Water and has been smitten ever since.

The Jack Reacher star apparently wanted the trip to be top secret and even got his sister Lee Anne DeVette to make sure no information leaked out.

The Mission Impossible actor was married to Katie Holmes, 37, for six years before they split.

The couple had a bitter divorce, in which Holmes gained full custody of Suri, 10, their child, and Cruise and Holmes are still not thought to be on good terms.

Cruise is reported to have also seen Suri, during his trip to the UK after receiving criticism for the lack of time he spends with his daughter.

He has been nominated for three Academy Awards and has won three Golden Globe Awards.
