ALARMING shortages of toys have hit an Evesham animal group.

Dogs Trust Evesham have launched an appeal for large dog toys after stocks reached an all time low.

The rehoming centre in Wickhamford has around 15 larger breed dogs in their care from American bulldogs to German Shepherds.

Chris Slight, Dogs Trust Evesham rehoming centre manager, said: “We look after dogs of all shapes and sizes, and get through a lot of toys!

"All dogs love to chew but the larger dogs need something that will last longer and really help to keep their brains busy when they are in their kennels.

“The dogs get so much enjoyment from toys and the large breeds particularly love things like hardwearing tug-toys, durable chewers and Kongs are perfect to help beat the boredom whilst they wait for their forever homes.”

The centre would love large pre-loved or new toys to be donated, but they must be specifically for dogs.

The trust want big, tough toys to keep the larger dogs entertained.

Anyone who wants to help, contact the team at Dogs Trust Evesham on 0300 303 0292 or visit the centre at 89 Pitchers Hill, Wickhamford.

The centre is open every day except Wednesday.
