A CAR ploughed into a wall in Oldswinford last night (Thursday, December 8), but luckily no one was hurt.

Emergency services, including a West Midlands Fire Service crew from Stourbridge station, were called to the crash opposite The Crabmill at about 11.30pm.

The wall belonged to Stourbridge businessman Jaswant Virdee who was in bed at his Hagley Road home when he heard the crash.

The 68-year-old told the News: “I just heard a very loud bang, so I quickly put on some warm clothes and went downstairs to see what was going on.

“It was a mess outside. The car was really damaged and all the air bags were blown up. The car is still here now.”

One side of the road was closed during the recovery of the car, which saw live wires on show from an affected street light.

Mr Virdee added: “The wall is in a right mess. The police have been down this morning and I’ve told them what I saw.

“There must have been three or four guys in the car, but a couple of them ran off after the crash.

“I’m glad no one was hurt, but it’s very annoying. We’re now going to have to go through the hassle of putting in an insurance claim.”
