A MEMBER of the Country Landowners Association from Tenbury has found a different way to support a forces charity.

A raffle prize awarded to a CLA member at the Royal Welsh Show has been donated to ABF The Soldiers’ Charity in Wales.

Mary Goddard, from Eardiston near Tenbury, donated her prize in honour of her family’s association with the army.

“I was delighted to meet Peter Davies at the regional office in Cardiff to make arrangements for Mrs Goddard’s donation and to learn about the work of the charity,” said Rebecca Williams, director of CLA Cymru.

CLA Cymru, which represents landowners, farmers and other rural businesses, ran a raffle for visitors to the CLA’s pavilion at the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show at Llanelwedd in July

“On behalf of the charity, I’d like to express our thanks to Mrs Goddard for her kind donation,” said Peter Davies, director of ABF, the Soldiers’ Charity in Wales.

“The gift will be put towards the support of soldiers and veterans from the British Army, and their immediate families, who are in need.”

“We make grants to individuals through their regiments and corps and support a wide range of specialist charities that sustain the British Army ‘family’, both at home and around the world.”

Founded in 1944, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity provides a lifetime of support to soldiers, veterans and their immediate families.
