REDDITCH'S newly-elected MP has been out and about, spending her first Saturday in the town.

MP Rachel Maclean attended the annual Armed Forces Day Parade in Redditch on Saturday.

The celebrations took the form of a parade from the town hall to the War Memorial outside St Stephens Church where there a short service before participants walked back to the town hall for a special reception.

Mrs Maclean said: “This marked the beginning of a busy Saturday for me, and my first in the constituency as newly-elected MP.

“The Armed Forces in this country carry out an essential and fantastic job in protecting us from the forces of evil, and they have my wholehearted support all year round.

“It was also a wonderful chance to meet up with some of the people of the town and to take part in my first important civic event.”

Mrs Maclean went on to visit the Feckenham Wake and Feckenham Horse Show, St Peter’s Church Fete in Ipsley, and took part in International Yoga Day celebrations at Redditch Library.

The MP said: “This is a wonderful time of the year for getting out and about, and after a hectic week in Westminster it was lovely to be able to visit so many events across the constituency and to talk to so many local people.

“Redditch and the surrounding villages is a vibrant community and I am looking forward to getting out and about much more over the summer months.”
