A SHED on wheels made a stop-off in Bromsgrove on Thursday night as part of its 874-mile fundraising tour of Great Britain.

The 'Fastest Shed', designed and created by 52-year-old Chipping Norton gardener Kevin Nicks, is being driven from Land's End to John O'Groats to raise money for the Katharine House Hospice, which cared for Kevin's mother before she died.

"I don't know why everyone isn't driving a shed," Kevin told the Advertiser. "I had an old car that was too good to scrap and I just decided to turn it into this. It took four and a half months to build and a couple more to get it road-legal.

"It's cost me around £5,000 altogether but I've done all the work myself."

Kevin and his shed, which can reach speeds of 99mph, passed through Bromsgrove via the M5 motorway before stopping off near Webbs Garden Centre in Wychbold at around 8pm on August 17.

"I'd like to apologise to the man we drove past in Wychbold that was so shocked when he saw us that he dropped his McDonalds milkshake all over the floor. We get looks and questions from people wherever we go."
