HUNDREDS of enthusiastic photographers have joined the Worcester News Camera Club's new facebook group.

We set up the club up last month to bring together like-minded photographers and offer them the chance to have their images published and potentially seen by millions of people online – and in print.

We now have a dedicated Facebook group where members can share their best snaps and tips, get feedback and ask for advice.

However, you don't have to be on facebook to be a member of the club as everyone who sends in pictures to be considered for any of our readers' picture spreads are automatically classed as club members.

We've therefore rebranded our popular Photo of Day feature, on page 2 of the paper, and will carry on publishing pictures by our members and sharing online picture galleries on our websites under the banner of the Worcester News Camera Club.

The club will run competitions and the chance to meet-up with professional photographers at workshops.

Members are also eligible to enter our loyalty scheme, which offers them the chance of receiving a discount on their home-delivered papers and the option to subscribe to our rewards scheme with lots of special offers and discounts available from High Street stores and supermarkets and entertainment and leisure providers.

The club is being supported by our sponsor, the London Camera Exchange, which has a shop in Pump Street Worcester.

In partnership with the company, we are now launching our first competition through our facebook group each month.

Each week, we will share online the pictures that featured each day in our Photo of the Day feature and ask members to like their favourites.

The top three pictures with the most likes will win a free print of their picture from London Camera Exchange.

First prize will receive a 12x18 print, second prize will win an 8x12 print while third prize will be an 8x6 print.

Peter John, editor of the Worcester News, said: "We consider ourselves very lucky to receive hundreds of pictures from amateur photographers every month.

"The Worcester News Camera Club was set up because we believe there is a wealth of talent across the county and we hope to provide a platform for that talent to be displayed to a wider audience.

"We're really excited that it has had such a good response and we have already gained so many new members who are joining a community of photographers who have been sharing their talents with us for many years already."

"We have plans to organise a workshop in October and look forward to getting to know some of our members better."
