RESIDENTS who fancy a seasonal stroll are being urged to join up for the free annual Festival of Winter Walks, hosted by the Bromsgrove Ramblers.

The group, which is marking the 30th anniversary of its festival this year, has organised a number of events which run between December 23 and January 7.

They are ideal for keen walkers who want to enjoy a winter stroll, escape the demands of the festive season for a few hours, or even kick-start their New Year fitness resolutions early.

Chairman of the Bromsgrove Group, Clare Stallard, said: “Winter is a wonderful time to get outdoors and enjoy your surroundings in the fresh air and the Festival of Winter Walks offers an easy way to head out for a winter wander with friends and family.

“And if you feel like you’ve over indulged on turkey and mince pies, it’s a great way to help you kick start those New Year fitness resolutions too.

“Who knows, what starts out as a one-off Christmas or New Year walk could lead to life-long friendships and a serious walking habit.”

Events include the ‘B’ Ramble on Wednesday, December 27, at 9.50am, for four miles, starting at All Saints’ Church Hall car park and walking around Hanbury fishing at the Jinney Ring.

A ‘Walk for Health’ event starts at 9.50am for 4.5 miles on Friday, December 29, at Sanders Park far car park, walking around Arrow Valley Lake and finishing at the Lakeside Café.

In January, events include a second ‘Walk for Health’ event on Friday, January 5, from 9.50am, and a second ‘B’ Ramble event on Sunday, January 7, from 9.50am.

All group walks during the festival are free to attend, but visitors are also encouraged to sign up to the Bromsgrove Ramblers full-time as the group seeks for new members in the New Year.
