AN injured man who was found in Hereford's city centre has died.

The 46-year-old named by police as Timothy Bassett from Hereford was found injured on Sunday, April 22 at 2.20pm.

He was admitted to hospital, but died at home yesterday.

Police said his death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact cause of death.

A post mortem examination is due to take place.

Detective Inspector Mark Peters, based at Hereford police station, said: "We have begun an investigation into Timothy's death, which we are treating as unexplained pending the results of a post mortem.

"There are two main parts to the investigation; firstly, establishing how the injuries were caused and secondly, whether they contributed to his death.

"Timothy was well-known locally within the town and I would ask anyone who may have seen him on April 22, or anyone that may have any information that could help with our enquiries, to please make contact."

Police did not specify exactly where Mr Bassett was found but said it was in Hereford city centre.
