PERSHORE River Festival has a signed photograph of a global superstar to give away.

The festival has managed to obtain a signed photograph of France and Manchester United player Paul Pogba and they plan to auction it at the festival.

Charles Tucker of the festival committee said: “The Manchester United Foundation gave us the photo of Paul Pogba to help with our fundraising, for which we’re very grateful.

"We will be auctioning it at the River Festival and hope that it will make a substantial amount of money. If France win the World Cup it could make even more – and if Paul Pogba scores the winning goal, who knows what it could be worth.”

The auction for the photograph will take place at the River Festival on Saturday July 21 at 4pm after the draw for the raffle.

Bids in advance can be made through the Facebook page. All funds raised will go to the Pershore Riverside Youth Centre

This year’s theme of the festival is “The Navy Lark” and organisers are looking forward to people entering into the spirit of chaos that ran through this radio series from the 1970s.

Mr Tucker added: “We’re hoping that the Navy Lark theme will spark off old memories and new ideas.

"We want everyone to think of ways to give the River Festival a real nautical theme. We’d love to see boats decorated as “HMS Troutbridge” and naval uniforms, mermaids etc will be very welcome.”

The heart of the festival is boats and the river and organisers are expecting boats to take part from across the Midlands.

There will be regular river trips organised by Avon Navigation Trust and plenty of opportunities to try water sports such as paddle boarding and canoeing at the Riverside Centre.

Other activities will include stalls, food and other family entertainments, all centred around the Riverside Youth Centre in Pershore.
