A VEGAN from Redditch is opening her own zero waste vegan-friendly shop in Bromsgrove this month.

Emily Attwell, who lives in Beoley, launched Nature’s Intention after turning vegan seven months ago.

The 22-year-old said: “I decided to go vegan after I thought about the environmental impact of what I was eating. Everything I was buying was in plastic.

“I tried to find a no-waste store near me and I couldn’t find anywhere, so I thought I’d just do it myself.”

Nature’s Intention, which is set to open on July 28 in the former Motor World site, will sell vegan-friendly dried foods, including chocolates, beans and fruits, as well as eco-friendly supplies like sanitary products and bamboo toothbrushes.

Emily added: “Our non-food items are to encourage zero waste swaps of everyday items. Eventually we want Nature’s Intention to be a one-stop solution.

"Everything I stock is vegan-friendly. As a vegan, I know how hard it is to find out exactly what is in the food you buy and where it comes from, so everything I sell will be clearly labelled.”

As part of its mission to be ‘zero waste’, Nature’s intention will sell only re-usable bags and jars.

“We’re urging all our customers to reuse what they can,” said Emily, who previously worked for a food packing business. “The store will have loads of glass jars you can purchase, but we’ll encourage customers to bring their own containers too. We won’t have anything plastic.”

To celebrate the launch at the end of this month, Emily is running a competition to win a free jar of vegan chocolates.
