IT is not just country houses and chocolate-box-cover country cottages that feature in the National Gardens Scheme.

A terraced house in Ludlow will be opening the gates of its garden to the public on Saturday (June 24).

The home of Caroline and Kevin Wood at 21 Steventon New Road will be supporting the National Garden Scheme and helping to raise money for good causes.

Gardening has been a passion for Caroline and Kevin since they moved into the house as a young couple nearly 40 years ago.

“Our garden is rather unusual in that it runs across the back of a row of seven terraced houses,” said Caroline.

“As we have got older we have found ourselves spending more time on the garden but we were surprised when it was chosen for the National Gardens Scheme.

“We wanted to be involved to support the charities after my step-father received wonderful care from Macmillan when he had cancer.”

The garden will be open between 12.30pm and 5.30pm and admission will be £3.50. There will be cakes, tea and coffee and perhaps ice cream if it is warm.
