MOBILE postal services are to be improved in rural south Shropshire.

To help serve extra communities changes are set to the Cleobury North mobile Post Office service, which is a travelling Post Office aboard a specifically designed vehicle.

Post Office Ltd is proposing to restore Post Office services to the communities of Lydbury North and Newcastle on Clun with a Mobile Post Office service provided by the Postmaster from Cleobury North.

Recently the Post Office announced plans to restore services to Clee Hill with the Cleobury North.

The date for when this service will visit Clee Hill village hall car park is being finalised.

Changes to the Cleobury North mobile services presents the best possible solution to restore Post Office services to these communities according to officials.

To accommodate the proposed new Mobile services there have been some minor changes to the operating hours of services at Middleton Scriven and Leintwardine.

The Post Office is also proposing to change the opening hours of Garden Village and Doddington.

In order to restore Post Office service to communities as soon as possible the services may be introduced before the end of public consultation that runs until June 5.

“Since the closure of Post Office services at Lydbury North, Newcastle on Clun and Clee Hill, we have continued to work to identify a solution that will enable us to restore services to the local communities,” said Karen Coles the Post Office Area Network Operations Manager.

“We are therefore planning to introduce a Post Office Mobile service, which is a tried and tested way of maintaining service to smaller communities.”

Full details of the proposed services are listed in the notes to editors.

The Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the plans in a six-week public consultation. Post Office Ltd welcomes feedback on any issues customers would like considered before a final decision is taken on this proposal until June 5.
