A SKITTLES team have raised more than £1,500 for a good cause by taking part in sponsored walk.

The Barclays Babes, of Worcester and District Ladies' Skittles League Division Two, who play at The Prince of Wales in Warndon, have been fundraising for Fort Royal Community Primary School to buy sensory equipment.

The 13-strong team took part in a 14 mile walk from Kidderminster to Worcester, which took five-and a-half hours with three stops, on Sunday, May 14.

The end point, which included a celebratory bouncy castle, was at The New Inn, in Ombersley Road, Worcester.

Team member Kelly Homer, whose daughter Kesley attends Fort Royal, said: "We all really enjoyed our walk and made over a massive £1,530."

She added: "We'd like to thank everyone that donated either in person or in our just giving page, Keith and his team at the New Inn for providing food for us all, our families and lastly Sign City for discounted T-shirts."

Margaret Jones, Fort Royal grants and fundraising coordinator, said:"We are very grateful indeed for the magnificent effort they made and the incredible amount of money they have donated to help update our sensory equipment, which is vital for the children's sensory and cognitive development."

The oldest participant was in their 60s and youngest was just 10.
