HUNDREDS of revellers flocked to Evesham at the weekend for the town's annual carnival.

Saturday's event saw 20 floats and more than 150 walking participants singing, dancing and entertaining crowds as they passed through the town centre.

Visitors could enjoy a parade, face-painting, a play bus, fairground rides and a drawing competition as well as sampling food and drink from the many stalls.

At noon, floats were judged before the Footsteps for Lewis charity raft rowing race.

The carnival queen handover took place at 1.15pm with 13-year-old Teigan Koorts chosen as this year's queen.

Travelling at Teigan's side during the procession were carnival princess, 10-year-old Lauryn Carter along with the queen’s attendees Abigail Goodge, six, Rosie Freeman, six, Lara Clements, seven, Daisy Allford, five, and Freya Bonham, eight.

At 1.30pm the presentation for the best float took place before the carnival procession at 2pm beginning at Crown Meadow.

Tribute artists to Michael Buble, Cher, Gary Barlow, Elvis and Whitney Houston performed a melody of tracks from 4pm.

2017 is the first year that Evesham Ladies Circle have played an official part in the organisation of the town carnival since the women-only social group was re-launched in July 2016.
