HUNDREDS of students across Wyre Forest have been celebrating after finding out their A-level results this morning (August 17).

Students at Baxter College have achieved a 98 per cent pass rate.

Those at the school taking BTECs enjoyed 100 per cent pass rate and virtually all year 13 students gained their first choice of university, higher education or employment.

Baxter College headteacher, Tim Waites, said: “Several subjects had new syllabuses and the students coped really well with the changing A-level landscape.

“We are very proud of them.

“I would like to thank all those involved in bringing about today’s successes.”

Head of sixth form, Peter Powell, added: “They have all worked really hard and have been rewarded for their effort.

“Best wishes to all the students in their future endeavours.”

Top performers at Baxter College included Caitlin Manning with A*BB and a place at Sheffield University to read Japanese Studies, while Jing He with A*AB will study Business Management at Birmingham University.

Top BTEC grades included a double distinction* for Jess Campbell, Jayden Beddall, Jess Carey and Jada Allcock.

Holy Trinity School and Sixth Form Centre achieved their best set of A-level results in 10 years – with 44 per cent of A* to B grades.

The school's overall pass rate was 96 per cent and all year 13 students at the school gained university places or chosen work placements.

Dr Melanie Hinton, head of sixth form, said: “It is all down to the hard work, dedication and support shown by our staff and our small teaching groups that has enabled our students to achieve such a pleasing set of A-level grades.”

Pamela Leek-Wright, headteacher, added: “I am extremely delighted for our students who have worked incredibly hard not only to gain an excellent set of personal results, but in doing so, have set a new school record for top grade passes.

“I an ever-changing playing field, they should be proud of their achievements and we wish them every success in the future.”

Among the highest achievers at Holy Trinity were Katie Jones who will now go on to study Digital Marketing at the University of Gloucestershire.

Stourport High School and VIth Form Centre rose to the challenge of the newly reformed post-16 qualifications, with students taking three A-levels achieving a 100 per cent pass rate.

The number of passes at the highest grades A* and A significantly increased, exceeding the national average.

Students following vocational courses achieved exceptionally well, with 83 per cent securing distinction and distinction* grades, on average a grade above expected progress.

Once again, the vast majority of students choosing to go to university secured their first choice places at a variety of universities across the country including the prestigious Russell Group and Oxbridge.

Stourport principal, Lorna Deakin, said: “I am thrilled that our students have achieved some amazing results this year.

“We are exceptionally pleased to see individuals able to move on to the next stage of their lives.

“It has been a fantastic experience sharing this great news with them in our brand new, state of the art VIth Form Centre, which opens for students in September.

Students and staff at King Charles I School are once again celebrating an outstanding set of A-level results this summer – with an overall pass rate of 99 per cent.

Students at the school are now looking ahead to their university and apprenticeship options.

Stephen Brownlow, headteacher, said: “I am delighted for the students.

“These results are a testament to the hard work and dedication of the students and staff.

“Over the last year, it has been a pleasure to see students and staff working together to produce this tremendous achievement.

“The students deserve credit on their studies and the staff tremendous credit for their professionalism, skill and dedication.”

Mr Brownlow added: “We are pleased to see so many students securing apprenticeships or places at university.

“I am very proud and particularly as most qualifications are new and in their first year with more challenging content and a different assessment regime.”

Top performers at the school, who scored three or more A* to B grades, included Ben Howard, James Cadwallader, Josh Freemantle, Beth Pickford and Sam Williams.

At Wolverley CE Secondary School, students celebrated their A-level results, with the school’s overall pass rate at 90 per cent.

The results reinforced the year on year improvements at the school, with an average point score per pupil and per entry both increased by 30 per cent this year.

Wolverely’s headteacher, Bryn Thomas, said: “These results are indicative of the hard work and commitment of students and staff as Wolverley continues to go from strength to strength.

“In addition, all of our students aspiring to university have achieved the grades to do so.

“I am immensely proud.”

While at the Bewdley School and Sixth Form Centre, students landed the grades to secure spots to study at universities, including Warwick, Birmingham and Bristol.

Top performing students including Henry Homer, Ryan Cooksey, Jade Palmer and Rebecca Carter.

Headteacher, David Hadley-Pryce, added: "The successful outcomes for each of our students following their A-level results is worthy reward for the commitment and enthusiasm they have shown.

"As students pass through our 6th form, we naturally hope for great things for each of them in their future lives and they have certainly exceeded our expectations. They have also been fantastic role-models in all aspects of school life.

"These results should be widely celebrated by the students and also by their families and the staff who have supported the students throughout.

"My team and I wish our departing Year 13 students every success in the future."
