TWO people have been taken to hospital following a 'major' crash in Catshill this morning. 

The incident took place on the B4091 Stourbridge Road between Church Road and B4185 Meadow Road at around 7am.

One casualty had to be cut out of the car by Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, who sent crews from Redditch and Bromsgrove to the scene. 

A spokesman added: "One casualty was trapped in the car and hydraulic tools were used to extricate the casualty."

Both casualties - a man and woman in their 20s - have been taken to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called at 7.01am to reports of a two-car collision on Stourbridge Road in Catshill, two ambulances attended the scene.

"From car one we treated the driver, a woman in her 20s, for back pain. She was immobilised and taken to the Alex.

"From car two, we treated a man in his 20s for chest pain and he too, was taken to the Alex."

The B4091 Stourbridge Road was partially blocked due to accident between Church Road and B4185 Meadow Road/Westfields.

Diamond Buses tweeted to alert residents of changes to their timetable, adding: "There has been a major RTC in Catshill. The 318 and 202 services will be affected."
