POLICE are appealing for information on a "sickening" incident in Rubery, which saw burglars slaughter a calf and kill a ewe after dragging it across a field.

The break-in happened sometime between 9pm on Saturday 11 February and 8am on Tuesday 13 February at a property in Redhill Lane in Rubery.

The offender, or offenders, forced entry to the property and once inside killed a calf. A ewe was also dragged from an adjacent field and killed.

A police spokesman said: "This was a sickening incident that would have undoubtedly caused a lot of suffering to the two animals. It is likely the animals have been killed for their meat.

"I'm keen to speak to anyone with information or CCTV, or who saw anything suspicious in the area. Please contact us, what may seem insignificant could fit into a bigger picture.
