EXPLORING the subject of the unseen injuries of war, Vamos Theatre Company returns to Bromsgrove's Artrix with A Brave Face later this month.

Worcester-based Vamos Theatre Company, the UK’s leading full mask theatre company, created A Brave Face from two years of research with ex and serving soldiers, families and health professionals.

A Brave Face explores Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), an unseen and often unrecognised injury of war, and the impact it can have on even the closest of families.

A spokesman said: "With compassion and fearlessness, Vamos brings its trademark, wordless, full mask style to a story that needs to be told.

"Afghanistan: 2009. Ryan is there to see the world, learn a trade, get a life. Training is complete, combat is a buzz; he’s part of a team, and knows his job. But on one particular hot and desperate tour of duty, Ryan sees things he can’t talk about, to anyone. And then, when he returns home, the trouble really begins."

Praised by press and public alike for its consummate full mask skills, engaging storytelling, physical dexterity and emotional insight, Vamos Theatre Company continues to involve and engage audiences across borders and boundaries, taking on challenging themes with poignancy, humour and humanity.

A Brave Face takes place at Artrix on Friday, April 27 at 7.30pm and is a co-production between Vamos Theatre Company, Mercury Theatre Colchester and a co-commission with London International Mime Festival.

For audience members who may find the subject matter of PTSD potentially upsetting or triggering, there is further information available to download from the Vamos website, or from the box office at Artrix.

The trigger and safety sheet pre-warns audience members about show content and themes, helping to minimise potential triggers for those living with Post Traumatic Stress.

A Brave Face is suitable for audiences aged 12 years and upwards, and is accessible to hearing and developing deaf audiences alike.
