HEALTH campaigners braved the elements to support a ‘Fix our NHS’ demo outside the Town Hall in Kidderminster.

Residents and representatives from Health Concern and the Green Party joined organisers Wyre Forest Labour at the event on Saturday (February 3).

The aim of the gathering was to highlight problems in the NHS and call to keep it as a public service and restore historic funding levels.

It was one of a number of similar events held across the country, including ones in Redditch, Bromsgrove and Worcester organised by It’s Our NHS Worcestershire.

Stephen Brown, Labour Media Officer said “I’m grateful to everyone who turned out in the bad weather today to support the ‘Fix Our NHS’ Demo and to engage with the public about why saving our NHS is important.

“Having a mix of ordinary people and representatives from both Health Concern and the Green Party turn up shows it’s possible to put differences aside and put the NHS first.

“My thanks go to all for attending, and to the public for their obvious interest in listening to what we had to say to them. It’s clear the NHS is important to everyone and they want the NHS properly funded.”

New Health Concern chairman Graham Ballinger added: "It was important to recognise the significance of this bipartisan event, that’s why we took part, and because the NHS is so crucial to all of us it must remain free at the point of delivery.”
