A QUICK-thinking Stourport entrepreneur gave the best possible pitch for his innovative spray-on plaster product – by using it on an injured customer in a shop.

Hadrian Garner was at Kidderminster electrical firm CEF’s West Bromwich shop when a man came into the store with a cut hand suffered during a workplace accident.

Mr Garner used the Dr Weils Spray on Accident Plaster that he developed to treat him immediately.

Bosses at CEF were so impressed seeing its effectiveness in action, they invited him to a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style event to demonstrate it further and now stock it in their 400 plus stores nationwide.

The plaster provides an immediate transparent waterproof film-skin over a small injury, which instantly sanitises the area and gives protection all day from Weils disease and other infections.

Mr Garner, who works for Stourport-based Severn Group, said: “While visiting CEF’s West Bromwich store, a customer entered the store having suffered a recent workplace accident.

“Fortunately, I was able to use my product to immediately treat and clean his wound.

“I’m very grateful to CEF for then inviting me to demonstrate the effectiveness of my product at their ‘Dragon’s Den’ product selection event.

“The success of my presentation has allowed Dr Weils to reach a national customer base for the first time, helping protect electricians and other tradesmen across the UK.”

Martin Franks, Branch Manager at CEF West Bromwich, added: “I was very impressed by Hadrian’s product, and how quickly and easily it was applied in a real-life incident.

“Obviously, ensuring our customers are suitably protected while they work on projects is a key concern for everyone here at CEF.

“So, when I saw the Dr Weils product in action, in the field, I knew this was something we should be stocking in all our stores and I contacted one of our category managers.”

And CEF senior category manager Paul Brookes had first-hand experience of the plaster himself.

He said: “It’s stories like Hadrian’s that make me proud to support the electrical trade – an industry where innovation, entrepreneurial spirit and quick-thinking are still able to make a difference.

“Shortly after Hadrian’s presentation with us, I actually came off my mountain bike and used his product to instantly patch up my own cuts and grazes.

“CEF is happy to support this business and we hope that many UK electrical tradespeople benefit from the product.”
